About the Event
Over the course of this class, you will learn how the natural world impacts your health, and how you impact the natural world. Especially now during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is very important to know how we humans impact the world around us! In this class we will cover everything from the origins of our food and medicines, our everyday links to our natural world, and the threats to nature that in turn threaten our own survival. I promise you, it is going to be VERY FUN!
Activity Leader bio: My name is Sylvana M. Although I currently live in California, I grew living in the middle of the rain forest in Costa Rica. I am a high school senior, and recently, I spend most of my time filling out college applications! Although it doesn't sound super fun, it really is an exciting process. During my free time, I enjoy scuba diving, reading books, and volunteering at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I am also fairly involved with my school community. On campus, I am class treasurer, founder and president of the National Honor Society, and hold leadership positions in the medical club, environment club, multicultural club, bio club, and interact club.
Materials Needed: Bring a candy or processed food of your choice, and know the ingredients! I know, it may sound odd, but this is an important item! (This can be anything from a pack of skittles to a cookie.)
