About the Event
Course Dates: Every week on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5:30pm-6:00pm PST during the month of August, starting the first week of August (August 4th and 7th are the first classes).
Course Description: Throughout this month-long neuroscience class, we will be covering a wide variety of topic concerning the brain ranging from the neuron to neuron connections to the sensory systems to the anatomy of the brain. Our brain, the complex structure that controls our emotions, our sensations, our memory, and who we are, is a very widely studied structure that we know so much about on one level, but know so little about on another. This course aims to give participants a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of the brain and how all of the components of the brain tie in to create complex neural functions.
Activity Leader bio: Hi! My name is Keira, and I am a sophomore in high school. I'm really interested in the STEM field, and neuroscience in particular. After taking a couple courses on neuroscience, I'm pretty excited to share my knowledge. Outside of science activities, I love to act in plays and musicals, bake, paint, and ride my bike.
Materials Needed: pencil and paper
